1st Kota Kemuning Boys Brigade recruitment drive on Facebook @2022 (Part 1)

Boys Brigade Kota Kemuning are looking to recruit some new members for 2023. As a parent of two Boys who have been members for ten years, here's my testimony.
Kawad kaki.
Yes, marching, drilling whatever the name is.
That's part and parcel of any uniformed societies be it the Boys Brigade, St John Ambulance, Kadet Polis, PBSM, Boy Scouts, Girl Guides etc.
One of the reasons why I chose Boys Brigade for my boys when they were only around 8-9 years old was because I preferred to have a uniformed body that they could be involved in from their early formative years right till young adults. It takes time and community involvement to raise a child. I wanted them to have a longer period to continue aiming and achieving the various milestones in Boys Brigade. So, age 8 till 17 and beyond, I have figured, is a good runway for them to prepare their flight towards Independence and adulthood.
At primary level, Brigadiers are called Juniors. There are a few milestones for them to achieve, namely the Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. There are also junior leadership camps and company camps they get to participate. At this level, Juniors are taught marching, cooking, sewing and other basic skills. The awards and camps are important as they serve the foundation to let the Juniors be more prepared as they experience the transition from junior to senior level.
At senior level, first major milestone to aim for will be the boot camp. The level of responsibility at the camp is ...... Challenging.
Brigadiers will definitely learn to be more responsible. How and why, I shall not be too explicit with the details but the training is enough to let the parents feedback to the officers that my child has changed.
From boot camp, there is a proper path progression for the Brigadiers to improve themselves on many fronts. So many badges and awards to aim for and achieve. There are also the camps eg the BNTS, ANTS, PESTA etc.
What are BNTS and ANTS, one might wonder? These are abbreviations for Basic NCO Training School and Advance NCO Training School. These camps prepare the Brigadiers to be NCOs ie. ranks in the Boys Brigade.
We all have heard of Lance Corporal, Corporal, Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain etc so I will not dwell too much into that.
So, again the question of why Boys Brigade, why 1st Kota Kemuning Boys Brigade? We are a small company compared to many other companies in Selangor. When the company is small, due to the limitation of the number of participants for camps for each different companies, Brigadiers in 1st KK have a better chance to participate in many state and national level camps and activities.
I speak from the experience my boys have gone through. Later, I will include some pictures of the camps they have been to, both in Malaysia and international camps.
My eldest, other than being in Boys Brigade, he was also involved in St John Ambulance in school. So, you can have double participation. Some parents might wonder if participation in Boys Brigade count towards participation in uniformed societies for school co-curricular activities. During my son's time, about three years back, yes, it is counted. As for any latest development, you can ask the school authorities for confirmation.
Parents, like minded parents. You won't go wrong with Boys Brigade. Head to BB meeting today.
