Toxic fumes have been enveloping Kota Kemuning in the past months. On Wednesday, I drove around trying to find the source of the fumes. Driving along Persiaran Mokara 31/57, I was shocked to see thick black smoke rising from the back of the one factory shoplot. The smell was so unbearable and I was coughing non-stop even after I had gone home.
I have so far called Department of Environment (DOE) twice and yet today, nothing is done even though a very clear direction to the location has been given to them. During the day, the said location is deserted with only whitened ground indicating that some chemical burning had occurred.
With so many locations where construction debris and other rubbish are dumped, many inconsiderate culprits have been burning the debris and rubbish illegally, causing the air in Kota Kemuning to be so polluted that one had to close the doors and windows for the sake of our children’s health.
I can only implore that Kota Kemuning residents keep a lookout for such health hazard burning and call DOE’s call centre at 1800 88 2727 or DOE Selangor at 03-55197233.
